Photodermatoses

Photodermatoses

Photosensitivity refers to skin issues triggered by abnormal reactions to ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Photodermatoses are sun-induced skin disorders categorized into four groups based on their causes: Idiopathic, Genetic, Exogenous, and Metabolic. These types encompass common photodermatoses. While not life-threatening, photodermatoses can cause considerable pain. Effective treatment is crucial, alongside prevention measures. Diagnosis entails a comprehensive medical history, physical examination, photo testing, blood tests, and skin biopsies to confirm clinical suspicions.
