Social
communication skills are fundamental for daily interactions, learning, and
community participation. This session explores how speech-language
interventions, cognitive training, and peer-based programs can strengthen
communication and relationship-building abilities in individuals with autism.
Topics include pragmatic language use, social story modeling, nonverbal
communication, and technology-supported speech aids. Researchers and clinicians
will present data-driven methods that enhance both verbal and nonverbal
communication while promoting social confidence and participation. The session
will also address age-specific interventions, cultural considerations, and
inclusive communication supports for minimally verbal individuals.
