Lung transplantation

Lung transplantation

Lung transplantation is a surgical procedure in which one or both diseased lungs of a recipient are replaced with healthy lungs from a donor. This medical intervention is considered for individuals with end-stage lung disease for whom other treatment options have been exhausted and whose prognosis without transplantation is poor. Lung transplantation can significantly improve the quality of life and survival of carefully selected candidates.
