Endocarditis

Endocarditis

Endocarditis is an inflammatory condition affecting the inner lining of the heart chambers and valves. Typically caused by bacterial or fungal infections entering the bloodstream, it can lead to the formation of lesions and damage to the heart structures. Symptoms can also additionally consist of fever, fatigue, and coronary heart murmurs. Early diagnosis and prompt treatment are crucial to prevent complications such as valve damage. Endocarditis often requires antibiotics and, in severe cases, surgical intervention to repair or replace damaged valves.
