Rare Diseases & Special Populations

Rare Diseases & Special Populations

The Rare Diseases & Special Populations track focuses on advancing research, diagnosis, and therapeutic development for conditions that affect small and often underserved patient groups. This track highlights innovative strategies to address the unique scientific, clinical, and regulatory challenges associated with rare diseases, including limited patient populations, delayed diagnoses, and scarce natural history data. Sessions will explore orphan drug development, adaptive trial designs, patient registry utilization, and collaborative global research networks that accelerate discovery and access to treatment. Emphasis will also be placed on genetic research, biomarker identification, and precision medicine approaches tailored to rare conditions. In addition, the track addresses the needs of special populations such as pediatric, geriatric, pregnant, and immunocompromised patients, who are frequently underrepresented in clinical research.
