Dr. Kristen M. Slater is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative, and Pain Medicine at Stanford University. With a Doctorate in Psychology focused on Behavioral Medicine and Health Psychology from Loma Linda University, and postdoctoral fellowship in pain psychology at Stanford University. Previously, Dr. Slater served as the lead psychologist and Director of Behavioral Medicine at Comprehensive Spine and Sports Center, where she established their Functional Restoration and Pain Psychology Programs. She has been full time faculty at Stanford since 2019 and she focuses on evidence-based clinical practices, participates in NIH and PCORI funded clinical trials, and contributes as a Master Trainer for the "Empowered Relief" program, teaching pain relief skills globally.
