Regenerative Ophthalmology is an emerging field focused on restoring damaged ocular cells, tissues, and visual function through innovative biological and therapeutic approaches. Current research encompasses stem-cell-derived retinal cells, cell replacement, tissue engineering, retinal regeneration, and neuroregenerative strategies aimed at repairing or replacing damaged ocular structures. Key challenges include cell survival and integration, immune compatibility, functional connectivity, and achieving durable clinical outcomes. Emerging areas such as extracellular vesicles, cellular reprogramming, organoid-based models, and advanced biomaterials are further expanding the possibilities of regenerative eye care. This session will explore the latest scientific advances and translational research aimed at moving regenerative ophthalmology from experimental approaches toward safe, effective, and clinically applicable therapies.
