Precision Medicine and Personalized Ophthalmology

Precision ophthalmology represents an evolving approach to eye care that integrates clinical characteristics with genetic, molecular, imaging, and longitudinal patient data to support more individualized diagnosis and management. Advances in multi-omics, artificial intelligence, digital biomarkers, and advanced ocular imaging are helping researchers identify disease signatures, predict progression, and better understand differences in treatment response. Personalized approaches are particularly relevant to complex conditions such as retinal diseases, glaucoma, ocular inflammation, and inherited eye disorders. By combining diverse sources of patient information, precision ophthalmology aims to improve disease classification, prognosis, treatment selection, and long-term monitoring. This session will explore emerging technologies, research developments, clinical applications, challenges, and future opportunities in individualized ophthalmic care.
