Glaucoma research encompasses a wide range of areas, including genetics, aqueous humor dynamics, retinal ganglion-cell biology, optic-nerve health, and mechanisms of neurodegeneration. Current research is increasingly focused on understanding disease mechanisms beyond intraocular pressure reduction, with particular interest in neuroprotection and preservation of visual function. Advances in artificial intelligence, optical coherence tomography, and other imaging technologies are supporting earlier detection, risk assessment, and monitoring of disease progression. Genetic, molecular, and biomarker studies are also helping researchers investigate potential therapeutic targets and personalized approaches to glaucoma management. This session will bring together clinical, translational, technological, and multidisciplinary perspectives on emerging advances in glaucoma diagnosis, treatment, and vision preservation.
