The future of ophthalmology is being shaped by collaboration across clinical medicine, biomedical research, engineering, data science, and biotechnology. Emerging advances in artificial intelligence, gene editing, regenerative medicine, advanced ocular imaging, digital health, and personalized therapies are creating new possibilities for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and management of eye diseases. At the same time, research is increasingly focused not only on slowing disease progression but also on restoring visual function and improving patients’ quality of life. Translating these innovations into clinical practice will require rigorous scientific validation, patient-centered research, accessibility, ethical implementation, and strong interdisciplinary collaboration. This session will provide a forward-looking platform for discussing emerging discoveries, technologies, and therapeutic approaches that may shape the next generation of ophthalmology and vision science.
