Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming ophthalmology by enabling new approaches to disease screening, diagnosis, prognosis, monitoring, and clinical decision support. Current research is progressing beyond conventional image-classification models toward multimodal AI, generative AI, foundation models, and predictive systems capable of integrating complex clinical information. The combination of retinal imaging, OCT, OCT angiography, fundus photography, electronic health records, genetic information, and other clinical datasets is creating new opportunities for data-driven ophthalmic care. At the same time, important scientific and clinical questions remain regarding model validation, interpretability, generalizability, bias, privacy, regulatory considerations, and integration into real-world healthcare settings. This session will explore emerging AI technologies and their potential to support more accurate, personalized, efficient, and accessible eye care.
