Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is a complex, multifactorial retinal disorder associated with aging, genetic susceptibility, inflammation, oxidative stress, and progressive degeneration of the macula. Current research focuses on understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying both neovascular (wet) AMD and non-neovascular (dry) AMD, including the development of geographic atrophy. Advances in complement-pathway modulation, sustained and long-acting therapies, gene-based approaches, cellular therapies, and targeted drug delivery are creating new opportunities for disease management. At the same time, OCT, OCT angiography, multimodal imaging, and emerging retinal biomarkers are improving early detection, disease monitoring, and assessment of treatment response. This session will provide a platform for discussing emerging discoveries, innovative therapeutic strategies, translational research, and future directions in AMD and retinal medicine.
