The MINIject is a device inserted into the supraciliary (anterior suprachoroidal) space to lower intraocular pressure (IOP). In this retrospective, single-centre cohort study of implantations with follow-up of up to two years, we found a significant reduction in IOP at 6 months and 1 year, of 3.2mmHg and 4mmHg respectively. The number of IOP-lowering medications was significantly reduced at multiple timepoints. The success rate (IOP between 5 and 21mmHg with a 20% reduction from baseline) was 21% for complete (unmedicated) success, and 36% for qualified (medicated) success). 15% of devices were malpositioned, and 10% of eyes went on to require filtration surgery. These results are overall more modest than the landmark studies for this device. This is to our knowledge only the fourth real-world series reporting on this device to date.
