Phytomedicine

Phytomedicine refers to the use of herbal medicine for therapeutic and healing purposes. These plant-derived pharmaceuticals are a promising starting point for developing clinically relevant and effective molecules. Since ancient times, phytomedicines have been used worldwide for the prevention and treatment of various diseases due to their broad range of biological actions. However, their use is limited by chemical and biological obstacles, such as insolubility, hydrophobicity, low bioavailability, and high toxicity. To address these challenges, drug delivery methods have gained significant interest. Phytomedicine has been a part of human society since the beginning and has the potential to revolutionize the current healthcare system when combined with other medical sciences in a wider interdisciplinary approach.
