Allied and Complementary Medicine

Allied health sciences is a term that encompasses a broad range of fields that produce healthcare professionals other than physicians. To achieve optimal patient outcomes, allied health practitioners collaborate with other members of a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Allied health professionals aim to prevent, diagnose, and treat various disorders and illnesses, and they often work in conjunction with other members of a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.

The term "complementary" implies "in addition to." Complementary medicine refers to a broad range of healthcare techniques that can be used in conjunction with conventional medical treatment. These are a collection of diagnostic and therapeutic disciplines used alongside traditional medicine. An excellent example of complementary medicine is using acupuncture in conjunction with standard care to help patients feel better after surgery.

Alternative medicine is not the same as complementary medicine. Alternative medicine is used instead of traditional medicine, whereas complementary medicine is used in addition to conventional treatment.
