Advances in Traditional Medicine

The use of traditional medicine has a lengthy history of promoting public health and disease control. Nowadays, an increasing number of plants utilized in traditional medicine are exhibiting antiviral properties, particularly against viral infections, which could serve as additional sources of treatment. Traditional medicine is being increasingly used by various groups across the world, leading to a growing awareness and research of its benefits in sustaining good health. According to the World Health Organization, the goal of "health for all" cannot be achieved without the incorporation of herbal medicines in basic care. The centuries-old medical system is being re-examined to tackle emerging public health challenges. Therefore, there is an urgent need to enhance the drug development process for natural compounds not only in the next 10 or 20 years but also in the next 20-40 years and beyond.
