HB Hospital, India
Background
Adipose tissue has evolved from being considered a passive energy reservoir to one of the most accessible sources of regenerative cells, extracellular matrix, and potent paracrine mediators. In reproductive medicine, this has created a compelling question: can adipose tissue be transformed from a readily available biological resource into a clinically meaningful regenerative tool?
Objectives
To provide a clinically oriented framework for understanding and translating adipose-derived regenerative approaches into gynaecological practice, with particular emphasis on MFAT, SVF and AD-MSCs.
Key Discussion
The presentation will address:
1. What is actually inside adipose tissue? Fat architecture— cellular/ stromal, extracellular matrix
2. MFAT versus SVF — biology, processing and clinical differences
3. Fat harvesting
4. SVF processing
5. Potential applications in reproductive and gynaecological medicine, including ovarian and endometrial regenerative research
6. Current clinical evidence, limitations and unanswered questions
7. Patient selection, safety, standardisation and ethical/regulatory considerations
Conclusion
Adipose tissue is increasingly recognised as a biologically active reservoir of regenerative cells and signalling molecules rather than simply an energy-storage tissue. However, translating biological promise into reproducible clinical benefit requires appropriate patient selection, standardised processing, rigorous safety assessment and high-quality clinical evidence. Understanding what we are actually delivering—MFAT, SVF or cultured cells—is fundamental to responsible regenerative gynaecology.
Proposed Take-Home Message
The future of adipose-based regenerative gynaecology lies not simply in “using fat”, but in understanding its cellular composition, biological signals, processing and evidence.
