Pediatric Dentistry and Gerodontology

Pediatric dentists specialise on the dental health of children from birth through adolescence. They have the training and knowledge to look after a child's teeth, gums, and mouth at all stages of development.

During the first six months of life, children begin to develop their baby teeth. They begin to lose their initial set of teeth around the age of 6 or 7, which are eventually replaced by secondary, permanent teeth. Children who do not receive sufficient dental care risk developing oral decay and illness, which can lead to a lifetime of pain and consequences.

Gerodontology's goal is to improve the quality of life and oral health problems of the elderly. Geriatric dentistry refers to dental treatment for senior citizens, which includes preventative, restorative, and restorative procedures.
