Fizyomen Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation Center, Turkey
Objective: This study
aimed to evaluate the effects of DSSA-based pelvic rehabilitation combined with
manual therapy and rectal-probe electrostimulation on muscle strength,
continence, and quality of life in men after prostate surgery.
Methods: Three male patients (aged 67–73) who underwent prostate surgery were
treated at Fizyomen Physiotherapy, İzmir, between 2024–2025. Each patient
received 8–16 sessions including internal–external manual therapy (myofascial
release and pelvic alignment), rectal-probe assisted electrostimulation for
pelvic floor activation, DSSA-based postural stabilization, and
diaphragmatic–pelvic breathing exercises. Home exercises were prescribed
focusing on relaxation, functional control, and awareness. Outcomes were
assessed using VAS, ICIQ-UI SF, IIQ-7, PFDI-20, Wexner score, Oxford scale, and
clinical observation.
Results: All patients showed notable improvement in urinary control, muscle
strength (Oxford 2→4), and quality of life (ICIQ-UI SF 17→7). Pain levels
decreased (VAS 6→2) and pad use reduced from 3 to 1 daily. No complications
were observed.
Conclusion: DSSA combined with manual therapy and rectal-probe electrostimulation
effectively supports pelvic floor recovery, continence, and postural stability
in men after prostate surgery, offering a practical and patient-centered
rehabilitation strategy.
