Abstract:

Cancer continues to be a significant global health concern, with treatment alternatives that encompass radiotherapy, chemotherapy, surgical procedures, and novel methods utilizing bacterial toxins such as anthrax toxin. This presentation summarizes the significance, laboratory preparation, and application of anthrax toxin for targeting cancer cells, encompassing both basic and advanced scientific research. Additionally, between 2000 and 2025, we compiled several studies analyzing the impacts of different engineered anthrax toxins on various cancer models through an extensive review of biomedical databases. Overall, research indicates that using bacterial toxins for cancer therapy is still an encouraging concept. However, further studies and innovative approaches are necessary to improve the effectiveness of clinical trials. Laboratory studies have demonstrated that anthrax toxin can efficiently eliminate different kinds of cancer cells. Various studies indicate that engineered anthrax lethal toxin has diverse effects, such as selectively targeting cancer cells and reducing damage to healthy cells while accurately identifying and enhancing the immune system In-vitro. Numerous studies indicated that combining anthrax toxin with chemotherapy or radiation therapy to enhance the cytotoxic effect of the toxin on cancer cells could boost treatment effectiveness. Furthermore, studies suggest that the application of anthrax toxin for human cancer treatment is expected to rise in frequency shortly, because of challenges associated with traditional cancer therapies. This comprehensive presentation will indicated that anthrax toxin has been confirmed in laboratory tests to effectively eradicate various cancer cells and could serve as a significant overview of the importance of anthrax toxin in cancer treatment.
