Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) face significant barriers in communication, social cue interpretation and emotional regulation, to mention but a few. Traditional interventions are often costly and inaccessible, leaving a critical gap in daily support for families. This study presents GlowMind, a high-impact mobile application created to address challenges faced by children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and engineered to bridge this gap through affordable, evidence-based digital therapy. Developed using an Agile framework, GlowMind leverages a cutting-edge technical stack including Flutter and Dart for cross-platform performance, with a synchronised data architecture using Hive (local) and Supabase (cloud) for seamless, real-time progress tracking. A standout innovation is the integration of a rule-based AI model that performs real-time behavioural assessments (based on validated ERQ and SADS instruments) to deliver personalised learning paths tailored to each child’s unique developmental profile. The design prioritises a minimalist, sensory-considerate user interface to prevent cognitive overload, featuring gamified modules, interactive emotion cards, and AI-driven speech-to-text tools. The application underwent rigorous Functional and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), achieving a 100% pass rate in technical performance. Pilot study results confirm transformative potential: 100% of users validated the platform’s ease of use and efficacy in mitigating sensory sensitivities. Notably, 75% of participants strongly agreed on the system's high-speed efficiency and lack of latency. Beyond the child’s experience, the Guardian Dashboard successfully reduced guardian burden by providing data-driven insights into developmental milestones. GlowMind represents a scalable advancement in assistive technology, offering a validated, secure, and intuitive solution that empowers neurodivergent children toward greater independence and a higher quality of life.
